TCAB Celebrates 20th Anniversary of IDC/TCOM Master's Program | ||||
February 19, 2009 | ||||
It was night of celebrating and reminiscing with old friends at Plaka Taverna in Atlanta. This extraordinary evening included samplings of authentic Greek foods, belly dancing, and a silent auction and raffle. The auction included art, photography, books, gourmet dining, spa and bar/wine baskets, entertainment packages, gift cards, and a weekend getaway, to name only a few things. A raffle was also held with many attendees going home with lots of great prizes. All items in the auction and raffle were donated, and the proceeds benefited the Rainey Scholarship Fund. The evening also featured a wonderful program that included photo highlights of our 20 year history, which can be viewed with Windows Media Player (High) (Low) or as a Podcast. This program was produced by our own Dr. Keith Hopper and Lori Rich. Additionally, the evening’s program included remarks by: Dr. Robert Fischer, the first department chair; Dr. Mark Nunes, the current department chair; Dr. Mike Hughes, former faculty and TCAB Board member; Mrs. Elaine Rainey, wife of our beloved Ken Rainey; and Dr. Carol Barnum, a current member of the faculty who has had a pivotal role in starting and developing the Master’s program. The event hosted a huge turnout of TCAB members and supporters, as well as Rainey family and friends, which made the night even more special as the Rainey's were noticeably touched by everyone’s generosity and dedication in supporting the Scholarship Fund that was founded in honor of the late Dr. Rainey. The evening raised almost $3,000 for the Fund. Thanks to the generosity of businesses and individuals, friends and members of the program, and especially with the support of the Rainey family, the Ken and Elaine Rainey Scholarship is getting even closer to becoming fully endowed. The Technical Communication Advisory Board (TCAB) sponsored the 20th
Anniversary Celebration of the IDC Master’s Program (formerly
the TCOM Master's Program), which is offered at Southern Polytechnic
State University in Marietta, GA. You can find more information about
this Master's Degree by visiting their website. |
