On February 25, TCAB presented the 2010 Kenneth & Elaine Rainey Inspiration Award for the outstanding graduate project of 2009. This year's winning project came from Dr. Barnum's Marketing Communication class: The Mad Housers Marketing Communication Plan, produced by the following team members:
-
Leslie Hankey
-
Mandy DiMartino
-
Elizabeth Thompson
-
Sharon Wade Cook
|

Chip, Elizabeth, Sharon, Leslie, and D'Lovely

The winning team demonstrated a professional level of commitment and communication skills in their work on graphics, logos, taglines, press releases, and other elements of the marketing plan. The Mad Housers organization, which provides temporary and basic shelters for the homeless, now has a marketing plan that can help bring more attention, funds, and respect to their efforts.
Although TCAB has presented the Rainey Inspiration Award in previous years, this event was the first of its kind in that it was dedicated solely to the presentation of the award and the discussion of the winning project. We were honored to have in attendance all four of the winning team members (one by phone), and especially honored to see Elizabeth Thompson, who travelled from Wisconsin for the event. It was the first time she had met her fellow team members face to face. During our discussion of the project, each team member delivered great insight into their methodology and the educational value gained from their efforts.
We were also honored to have in attendance some of the students whose projects were nominated, members of the IDC faculty, and other members of TCAB.
TCAB would like to thank everyone who participated, including this year's judging panel: Chip Jones, D'Lovely Gibson, and Astrid Dahl. |
