2009 Starts with New Graduate Reception | ||||

ETC&MA faculty, staff, TCAB members and other SPSU graduates welcomed incoming Master’s Program students during an information-packed student reception held January 8th on the third floor of the Atrium building. The new graduate students got to meet the department chair, Dr. Mark Nunes, as well as faculty members Drs. Carol Barnum, Betty Oliver, Keith Hopper, and Laura Palmer. The professors gave an overview of their areas of expertise as well as the structure, opportunities, and options available within the program. Several professors gave a preview of their classroom web environments and shared tips about the various tools available to students. Everyone was treated to a live demonstration of the Vista interface that permits real-time meetings online. Vista provides a wealth of audio and video features, including desktop sharing and a “push to talk” conversation feature for the ultimate in virtual meetings! In addition to the demos and invaluable tips like “Donna McPherson is your lifeline,” students received a packet filled with information, including the newly developed Super Student Survival Guide. After the formal presentations, faculty, students, and alumni mingled and snacked, ensuring the incoming graduate class a great start. |
